What should I expect after a CO2 laser treatment?

Many advances have been made to improve the side effects of CO2 treatments but ONLY the CoolPeel can deliver a fractional ablative treatment without the downtime. There is minimal risk of hyperpigmentation, demarcation or induced infection.

Pre-Treatment:

Do not go tanning in a tanning bed 2 weeks before your treatment.
Avoid extended sun exposure 10 days prior to your treatment. If you have a "fresh tan," or a sun burn, you will need to come back at another time to ensure a safe treatment.
Delay the use of Retin-A, Renova, Differing, Tazorac, Avage, Epiduo, Ziana, and high percentage alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) and beta hydroxy acid (BHA) products for approximately 5 days before treatment. Consult your physician before temporarily discontinuing the use of any prescription medications.

What is the aftercare/downtime like?

There will be a small degree of redness (reminiscent of a sunburn) in the treatment area after the session, but this will only last for about 24 hours. After the treatment, the skin will be dry, so make sure to moisturize well for around one week. Sun exposure must be avoided. Do not apply makeup for a day or two. After this time has passed, mineral makeup may be applied. Your skin will be completely healed within 5-10 days depending on the intesity of the treatment. You will be given a Post Procedure Kit to take home which will include carefully selected products to help speed up recovery, reduce any discomfort, and keep your skin hydrated and comfortable during the healing process.

How many treatments do I need and how often can the treatments be repeated?

Although you will see results after just one Cool-Peel treatment, a series of three treatments is recommended for optimal results. The Cool-Peel can be safely repeated every 4-6 weeks as needed. The number of treatments needed depends on individual cases. If youre treated with the Helix Deka Laser we recommend 1-2 treatments.
